Bridging gaps: Unity Arts Festival makes its debut as part of Open House weekend

A new arts festival is coming to east London this weekend as part of the Open House project.

From September 22-23, artists will offer life drawing classes, students from London Film Festival will screen their work and dancers from English National Ballet will run workshops as part of the Unity Arts Festival, which touches down for the first time.

The two-day event is taking place in Leamouth Peninsula, which is being redeveloped into a cultural hub.

The district, in Tower Hamlets, is already home to the Line, London’s contemporary art trail, and new headquarters for English National Ballet and the London Film School are under construction there.

Unity Arts Festival was created as a response to the influx of new housing and people to Leamouth Peninsula, and hopes to bridge communities through the arts.

Unity Arts Festival runs September 22-23. For more information and a full line-up of events, visit unityartsfestival.com
