She may have only just been born, but when one uncle went to visit his new niece for the first time he was determined to make a good impression.

So he wore a suit – tie pin and all.

The man in question’s sister, Iris Kessler, posted on Twitter that he decided to show up in his finest clothing because of “first impressions”.

She wrote yesterday: “My sister is about to have a baby and my brother showed up to the hospital in a suit because ‘first impressions matter’.”

And a good first impression he certainly left – the photo’s since been retweeted more than 25,000 times.

When it came to actually meeting and holding his new young family member, Baby carter couldn’t quite get her eyes open.

But hopefully she felt the high quality fabric she was resting against.

Thanks to the tweet, Kessler’s brother has since earned the enviable title of internet legend, with one other Twitter user replying: “Best uncle. Ever” and another “I love your brother”.

For those wondering, yes, Carter did eventually open her eyes – and she’s a cutie.

We’re all up for making this a full-blown tradition; let’s all dress up smart for a new baby’s arrival. It’ll be their first impression of you, after all, but of the world too.
