UK election polls tracker: Labour creeps up on Tories as Brexit Party loses support
The Tory lead over Labour has narrowed with just 29 days to go until the general election, according to the rolling average of the last week's opinion polls.
The latest data shows the Labour Party has been creeping up on the Conservatives over the last week.
The party saw a seven per cent surge in support from 22 per cent to 29 per cent, while the Tories saw a five per cent jump to 39 per cent.
It comes after Jeremy Corbyn criticised the Government's slow response to widespread flooding in northern England and announced ambitious plans for free education.
Meanwhile the Brexit Party has lost support, dropping from 12 to eight per cent after Nigel Farage announced his decision on Monday to stand down candidates in 317 Tory-held seats.
The Liberal Democrats and Green Party also saw their stock fall.
Jo Swinson's party dipped to 16 per cent from 21 per cent, while the Greens fell from four to three per cent.
The latest poll was released as David Gauke, the former justice secretary, suggested Tory supporters opposed to no deal should consider “lending” their votes to the Liberal Democrats on December 12.
Two former Labour MPs, Ian Austin and John Woodcock, have also urged Labour voters to support the Tories, saying Jeremy Corbyn was unfit to be prime minister last week.
Mr Gauke, who had the Tory whip withdrawn by Mr Johnson after rebelling over Brexit, confirmed he would now be standing as an independent in South West Hertfordshire – the seat he has held sine 2005.
