U2's Achtung Baby promotional Trabant car up for auction
A car with an unlikely role in rock history is heading to auction - a Trabant used to promote the 20th anniversary reissue of U2's Achtung Baby album.
The Trabant P 601 L, with a registration date of August 1987, was owned and used by Universal Music as part of the promotional campaign for the 20th anniversary of the record in 2011.
A Trabant car was famously hung over the audience during shows on the original 'Zoo TV' tour in 1992 and 2011 as a homage to that feat - six cars were painted and displayed across Germany, with this being one of those examples.
The Trabant comes with full German paperwork and registration documents including ones showing Universal Music was its previous owner.
The unusual piece of rock memorabilia will go on sale on 29 November at Omega Auctions in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside. It has an estimate of £6,000 to £10,000.
