Tyson Recalls Nearly 30,000 Pounds of Chicken Nuggets

Tyson Foods announced a recall on Nov. 4, affecting nearly 30,000 pounds of chicken nuggets, specifically the “Fun Nuggets” shaped like dinosaurs. The recall was issued due to potential contamination with metal pieces.

The issue was noticed due to customer complaints about small pieces of metal in the Tyson chicken patty product. There has been one reported minor injury following the consumption of an item included in the recall.

The frozen nuggets included in the recall were all produced on Sept. 5, 2023. The packaged product is in a 29-ounce plastic bag labeled “Tyson FULLY COOKED FUN NUGGETS BREADED SHAPED CHICKEN PATTIES.” Additionally, the affected product has a “best if used by” date of Sept. 4, 2024. The following lot codes are included in the recall:

  • Lot Code 2483BRV0207

  • Lot Code 2483BRV0208

  • Lot Code 2483BRV0209

  • Lot Code 2483BRV0210

Distributors in Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin received shipments of the affected product and distributed the product further on the retail level. The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) does not currently have a list of the retailers who sold the recalled product, but the FSIS will provide an update on its website when that list is available.
