On last night's Love Island: Unseen Bits (July 10), newbie Lucinda Strafford confessed she'd matched with Chuggs Wallis on a dating app before the current series.

In a chat with her housemates, Lucinda said: "Do you know what? I actually matched with Chuggs on a dating app, and I remember talking to him about bucket hats."

She continued, "And then this guy comes in and he’s like, 'Hi, my name is Chuggs, I own a bucket hat company.' I was like, 'I’ve literally had this conversation with you!'"

When asked if she'd actually bought one of Chuggs' infamous bucket hats, she answered that she hadn't.

Unfortunately, despite matching on the outside world, the pair didn't cross paths in the villa. Chuggs was dumped from the Island by Rachel Finni just a few days before bombshells Lucinda and Millie Court arrived.

But Lucinda wasn't the only Islander who knew Chuggs before the show. PE teacher Hugo Hammond also revealed he and the bucket hat business owner had a surprising connection.

When it was announced by text that Chuggs would be heading into the villa, Hugo excitedly told the other Isanders: "I know Chuggs!"

"If he’s the person I’m thinking of, he’s posh. He’s a good looking lad, plays rugby at uni, got a lot about him," he continued.

After leaving the villa, Chuggs wrote a sweet message to his fans and Love Island castmates. "Thank you for all the kind messages and a warm welcome back, it means the world," he said on Instagram, "Loads of love for everyone else that managed more than 48 hrs 😂."

Love Island continues tonight at 10pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
