Love Island's atmosphere took a frosty turn as two islanders, Ellie Jackson and Trey Norman, were told to pack their bags and exit the villa on Sunday, 7 July 2024. This followed a dramatic Movie Night for the couples, where they had to confront the repercussions of their behind-the-scenes actions.

The islanders brought their A-game in terms of glamour as they geared up for the much-anticipated Love Island Film Festival, following a text message received by Jessy Potts.

As part of the highly-anticipated feature, the contestants were able to watch moments from the recent Casa Amor twist as they tucked into clips including the ‘Wild Wil West', and 'Es-Sex and The City'.

However, the Movie Night quickly descended into chaos when Matilda Draper and Wil Anderson were confronted with the fallout from their Casa Amor shenanigans. The spotlight then shifted to a duplicitous Joey Essex, whose flirtation with bombshell Jessy proved to be the final straw for his potential reunion with Grace Jackson, reports the Mirror.

Things then got even more dramatic when the Islanders were told to take their seats before the big screen revealed the results of a public vote, with Ellie and Trey securing the least amount of votes as the most compatible couple. Having secured the lowest number of votes, the duo were sent home immediately.

In response to the shock double dumping, the remaining contestants were left grappling with the news. “Love you all, you're amazing! Keep your chin up,” Trey told the remaining Islander as he said goodbye to the villa.

“It's a bittersweet feeling to be leaving the villa tonight,” Ellie said as she spoke to the camera. Meanwhile, Trey added: “When your time's up, your time's up.”

Having only just coupled up together during Casa Amor, Ellie and Trey’s time together in the villa had only just started. Prior to entering Casa Amor, Trey was in a couple with Jess White, though he chose to twist and re-enter the main villa alongside newbie Ellie

The surprise elimination comes after Omar Nyame and Tiffany Leighton spoke to OK! about their time in the villa, with Tiffany revealing her desire to be back on the show. "My journey was quite quick and it would have been nice to stay a bit longer. But I was honest and true to myself, so I don’t regret doing that because I don’t think it’s very nice to stay with someone just to stay in," she said.
