The Crown season four launched yesterday [Sunday 15 November], and it's all we've watched/talked about/Googled since. And judging by the reaction on Twitter, we're not the only ones.

As well as looking into Princess Diana and Camilla Parker-Bowles' friendship and wondering about Josh O'Connor's opinion of Prince Charles, viewers have also been sharing their opinions of Gillian Anderson's portrayal of Margaret Thatcher.

The Sex Education actress plays the country's first female Prime Minister, who came into power in 1979 and served until 28 November 1990, in the fourth season ofThe Crown. In order to play the role, Gillian adopted a very specific role, and wore body prosthetics.

In an interview with The New York Times Anderson said of trying to master Thatcher's vocal tone that she was, "trying to find a place where the voice sat within my voice" so that it, "didn’t feel like it was too stretched or over the top, or like it was an impression or a parody."

Many viewers are torn over this portrayal, thanks to their conflicting feelings towards Gillian and Margaret. One person wrote, "If anyone needs me today I’ll be having several conflicting emotions about Gillian Anderson in The Crown x," while someone else added, "Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher is the kind of confusion we all need in our lives right now #TheCrown"

A third said, "I have such a crush on Gillian Anderson but she’s playing Thatcher and I really don’t want to fancy Thatcher! Looking forward to a very conflicted Sunday afternoon."
