If you’ve been waiting eagerly for a date with your hairdresser, it’s safe to say you are not alone. Hair and beauty bookings platform Treatwell has reported a record-breaking 2250 per cent surge in demand for hair appointments. This staggering rise follows last week’s UK government announcement that hair salons can finally reopen for business this Saturday 4 July.
This demand is welcome news for a business in flux: according to the British Beauty Council, the beauty industry supported a total of almost 600,000 jobs in 2018, which equates to one in every 60 jobs in the UK.
With stylists and barbers in such high demand, getting an appointment has proven tricky for many; several of the UK’s leading salons have reported waitlists of up to 2000 people, and are working around the clock to manage appointment requests. With that convenient Saturday-morning slot now akin to gold dust, one Yorkshire-based salon has reportedly advertised appointments starting from 5AM (and yes, they’ve been snapped up already).
So it should come as welcome news to hear that Treatwell’s roster of leading hair salons and barbers is ready and waiting to take bookings for 4 July and beyond. Even better, Harper's Bazaar readers can enter the exclusive code TREATHEARST at the time of booking to receive a 20 per cent reduction on your bill. (Applicable to new Treatwell users, with a maximum spend of £200.) Book in for a long-awaited trim, or finally kiss goodbye to those increasingly obvious roots. At long last, it’s time to welcome back one of our most valued beauty services.
