TOWIE producers in hunt for new stars for show in massive casting shake-up
The Only Way Is Essex is about to welcome new stars into its cast as ITV plans to majorly shake-up the reality show's line-up.
The ITVBe series has been on our screens since 2010 and still boasts a few original stars in its cast, from Lauren Goodger and Amy Childs to Harry Derbridge. However, the show is looking for a few new reality wannabes to join the rest of the cast at Essex's Sugar Hut.
TOWIE producers took in a bid to bring fresh faces to the show, writing: "Lime Pictures is casting for the next series of The Only Way Is Essex." Alongside contact details, the advert read: "Dream of being a reality star? Live in Essex or surrounding areas? Would you love to star in an exciting TV show?"
Fans quickly took to the comment section to give their take on the news, with one writing: "I b****y wish...Can't wait to see some new faces though! Good luck guys/girlies." Another asked for a few older cast members to join the show, commenting: "Less young cast members more middle age please."
Meanwhile, other fans called for some of the show's former stars to return to TOWIE. One fan wrote: "Would much rather see [James Argent, Kirk John Norcross, Lydia Bright, Lucy Mecklenburgh, Lauren Goodger and Amy Childs] as grown-ups."
It's been a dramatic few weeks on TOWIE so far, with cast member Chloe Meadows speaking out about Ella Rae Wise's kiss with Dan Edgar - her best friend Amber Turner 's ex-boyfriend. When asked about Ella being annoyed that Harry Derbridge told Amber about the kiss, Chloe told OK! in an exclusive chat that is was all "so silly".
"You can’t say something on national television with a camera in your face and then be annoyed. She told him on camera and everyone is going to find out… you can’t be annoyed. It has got a bit mental though. He is having a nice time with us."
As for new couple Dan and Ella, Chloe said that the pairing was "predictable" and that she knew "it was going to happen". She added: "First obviously because Ella always had a thing for Dan, that thing that happened in the Dominican Republic [Dan and Ella were rumoured to have got close on a night out]. And there is no smoke without fire, Ella had a thing for Dan – maybe he had a thing for her too."
