Tottenham returned to the summit of the Premier League with a comfortable 2-0 win over London rivals Fulham. Skipper Son Hueng-min as has been the case this season opened the scoring after being played through by Richarlison.
The South Korean took a touch to beat his man before planting the ball beyond Bernd Leno. Spurs dominated the game and should have gone into the break with a heavy headline.
That was soon corrected in the seond first half as James Maddison scored his first home goal and took his tally of goal contributions to eight in nine games to give the home side the security they so much craved.
Was upset with himself after shooting straight at the Fulham keeper when set up. Went about his work quietly despite an early booking.
Fulham have not won any of their last four London derbies and have one win from 17 league games against Tottenham and in all honesty just did not look like causing an upset.
Former Chelsea forward Willian was perhaps their brightest spot and every now and then they will attempt a half-hearted press but Tottenham deserved their goals and should have put the game to bed as early as the first half.
So many stars springing up under Ange Postecoglou and Destiny Odogie reminded everyone why he’s been talked about as the next big thing in Italian football. He was comfortable dropping in midfield to help the team retain possession and was a goal threat whenever he attacked.
Maddison, Son and even Riharlison all look to be enjoying their game under the Australian manager and the feeling in the atmosphere is that which has forgotten the last days of Antonio Conte.
Brilliant strong hand to keep to stop Paulinho from opening the score in the first half and then repeated it in the second half.
In what was a really comfortable night for the home side- here is how we rated every Tottenham player out there today.
The applauds from the stadium as he came off was evidence of his growing influence. Man of the match till he was substituted.
Got an assist for the Son goal and worked his shocks off.
Not long ago a lot of people wanted to brand him as a flop but he’s been nothing short of brilliant since signing on.
Great goal to take his tally to eight goal contribution this season.
Had a couple of half chances in the first half where he should have done better but then showed his class with a brilliant finish and then. provided the assist for the game. Man of the Match
Slow start but warmed into it quite well. Good day at work.
Very strong and hard to beat the on the ball and never needs an invitation to go pump forward.
A warrior who has earned his place as one of the best defenders in the world.
Growing by the day and enjoying his game with flicks and passes that are just so good to watch.
