Figure skating legends Torvill and Dean have admitted they are bored by repeated claims that Dancing On Ice is "fixed" in favour of ITV talent and comedy contestants.

Jayne Torvill told The Sun she and Christopher Dean are "used to it" in terms of fix allegations and said "we are" when asked if the duo were bored of dealing with the issue.

This year, numerous viewers alleged the vote was rigged in order to keep Happy Mondays performer Bez in the show for as long as possible.

Dean said he and the other members of the judging panel are "just judging what we see" but that it's down to the viewers at home to vote for who they want to see make it through.

He added: "There's a sort of a fascination for entertainment factor characters like Bez who every show has, and it's just about how long they sustain.

"And, eventually the audience decides, don't they, how long it's going to last."

Bez was eventually voted off the show last month after competing in a skate-off against Coronation Street actor Sally Dynevor.

Torvill also rubbished claims that trained dancers — such as this year's standouts Brendan Cole, Regan Gascoigne and Kimberly Wyatt — have an unfair advantage.

She cited the example of James Jordan — who went on to win the show in 2019 — as someone who was let down in the early stages by his lack of ability on the ice.

Torvill said: "His actual skating skills at the beginning were really very weak, very poor, and it was only the fact that he went away and worked really hard that moved him on."

Dancing On Ice returns this Sunday with a special episode in which the remaining celebrities will pay tribute to various routines performed by Torvill and Dean during their career.

Six couples remain in the competition, including Connor Ball and Alexandra Schauman, who will perform despite Ball's grotesque injury on last week's live show.
