Waking up in the wee hours of the morning can be challenging if you’re not a so-called “morning person” — and that’s especially true in winter.

If you’re a night owl who spends too much time watching TV and subsequently needs more sleep in the morning, I feel you. That’s me, too.

While we can’t all be the type to instantly bounce out of bed, I’ve found one helpful gadget that’s done the trick for me — especially on dark winter mornings.

The Philips SmartSleep Wake-Up Light is what I use to make sure I’m up on time without last-minute morning scrambling. And it’s 10 percent off right now.

Rather than using typical annoying alarm sounds, this alarm clock uses a light that gradually brightens over the course of 30 minutes, which imitates the light of the sun rising. It starts off with a dim yellow, and after 30 minutes, the light will light up your whole room.

Gradually increasing light intensity helps stimulate your body in order to wake up naturally, according to the product description. Once the light is fully bright, a soft beep will begin to gradually increase versus a jarring alarm clock noise. And if you must hit the snooze button, you can tap anywhere on the front of the clock to start a nine-minute snooze cycle.

I’ve definitely found that I feel more refreshed waking up with this clock. But don’t just take it from me — more than 4,000 shoppers have given this alarm clock a near-perfect rating.

One reviewer, who gets up at 5 a.m. every morning, calls the clock a “game changer,” adding it’s a must for any “struggling early riser.”

Some users have found that after using the clock, they begin to wake up even before their wakeup time.

“I’ve found that in using this, I now often wake up before the alarm actually goes off,” another shopper said. “The light gently wakes me up, improving my mood, as I’m not being started awake by a load beeping or music. The ‘sunlight’ across my closed eyes is eerily similar to that of the sun shining through my window.”

If you want to break the never-ending snooze cycle, then this clock is a winner — especially while it’s on sale.
