Keen to start weightlifting but not sure where to begin? Our strength training for beginners’ guide is a solid place to start, but we know that actually getting in the gym and putting everything you’ve learned into practice can be a different ball game. Well, fret not. In partnership with activewear label LNDR (which we love), PT Sam McGowan (aka Sam Says) is hosting a ‘Gym Confidence Workshop’ to help you, as it says on the tin, feel confident lifting weights.
The event will be held on Sunday 16 October at UNTIL in London, and Sam will be accompanied by two more PTs. Together, the three pros will go through everything you need to know, from how to set up a barbell for hip thrusts (or any other move you might want to try), to how and when to use a dumbbell without injuring yourself, and the correct technique to use for compound exercises like squats and deadlifts (they’ll also be on hand to share advice for any other exercises you want help with).
As if that’s not enough, they’ll also share a simple weightlifting warm-up, some key core exercises to use to support all weightlifting routines, and tips on how to nail a push-up. Basically everything a strength training newbie might need to know.
Now for the best bit. Tickets are £49 each, but as part of this, you’ll get a £49 gift card to spend on LNDR, so the ticket is, essentially, free. We know. LNDR will have a pop-up on site at the workshop, so you can spend your gift card at the event, or online ahead of the day once you purchase your ticket so that you can wear your new kit on the day.
