Whoopsie! Top Gear host Paddy McGuinness got a little heavy handed on last night's (11 March) The One Show as he broke the set on live TV.

The comedian and host accidentally kicked the infamous clear plastic coffee table that separated him from co-hosts Alex Jones and Matt Baker mere seconds into Wednesday's show – which resulted in him pulling off one of the plastic semi-circles that make up the unique piece of furniture.

"What's that?" he asked after giving the table a bit of a kicking, before reaching down to pull at the plastic.

The former Take Me Out host then pulled off part of the set as Alex shouted: "You've just broken our [table!]".

"What is that!?" Paddy asked as he held up part of the table he'd ripped off while the hosts were left in stitches.

He then quipped: "Is this what we've come to on the BBC?" and revealed that the piece had seemingly been broken before and was stuck back on with a piece of sellotape.

"I'm blaming Brexit. The budget's only just come out!... I've literally just caught that with me foot! That is ridiculous."

But while The One Show table could arguably happily sit in a TV museum after all this time on our screens, viewers weren't exactly sentimental about the loss on Twitter. Some even had some ideas about a new feature.

"Love how @PaddyMcGuinness has just destroyed the infamous #theoneshow table!!!" one fan tweeted.

"@PaddyMcGuinness so funny u breaking the one show table lol [sic]," another said.

"That explains why the table had been rotated recently ! #theoneshow #bbc," another viewer said. "@PaddyMcGuinness is a walking disaster zone – now a competition to design a new table feature?"

The latest mishap came shortly after the BBC One show saw another blunder last month.

Then, The Pussycat Dolls had to restart their performance after a technical glitch that saw the girl group's ear pieces break.

The One Show airs Mondays through Fridays at 7pm on BBC One.
