Top Gear viewers finally saw the moment Paddy McGuinness crashed a Lamborghini in a challenge as the show aired the footage of the accident in Sunday's episode.

The presenter was behind the wheel of a £250,000 Lamborghini Diablo when the vehicle slipped on some oil on a wet road, spinning off the road and landing in a field.

The incident took place in June, with McGuinness confirming at the time that he had escaped unscathed.

As seen on the latest episode of the show, McGuinness lost control of the car, and made it back to co-stars Chris Harris and Freddie Flintoff in a different vehicle while the bashed-up Lamborghini was hauled away on the back of a truck.

"Oh my God," Harris exclaimed upon seeing the battered car before asking if McGuinness was physically okay.

"Gutted," replied the Phoenix Nights star, although the conversation quickly turned into banter.

"It was on a little bit of a bend, that was it," McGuinness said. "No more than 40, but it really surprised me how quickly it just goes from ‘isn’t this lovely’ to…"

"It is amazing how quickly you can run out of talent," jested Harris.

In a video to Instagram in June, McGuinness said: "If you’ve ever owned a Diablo or you’ve driven one you’ll know just as well as me, oh my God, she can be a cruel mistress, she can be a cruel mistress that one.

"I’m going to have a cup of tea, a paracetamol and a good old cry."
