Furby, Barbie and more: The bestselling Christmas toys from the past 30 years

While 2017’s Christmas toys are set to be full of ‘Star Wars’ paraphernalia and unicorn-themed gadgets, the past three decades have shown some changing trends in the likes and dislikes of children.

Toys R Us collated the top Christmas toys from the past 30 years and some additions are rather surprising.

While films have inspired many a popular toy, in 2010 children didn’t even want a toy, opting for the ‘Toy Story 3’ DVD instead.

Furbies also appear on the list twice, making their debut in 1998 and then again in 2013 as they swept up an entire new generation.

Take a look at all of the gifts and gadgets to see which you owned – and which you longed for.
