It goes without saying that the pandemic has impacted many people's careers enormously, and ONS data shows those under the age of 25 have been hardest hit by the effect of lockdowns on the labour market.

Last July, LinkedIn saw that hiring fell 23% for graduates but the good news is, as the UK economy starts to reopen and the vaccine programme rolls out, there are clear signs of improvement.

With the class of 2021 about to enter the job market, new research from LinkedIn has found job prospects for these new grads are looking up. The career platform found year-on-year hiring for entry level roles is vastly up from April 2020 to April 2021, and despite a difficult 18 months, 74% of 16-24-year-olds now feel optimistic about their future job opportunities.

Hearing this promising news is one thing, but finding a brilliant graduate or entry-level job is still a daunting task. To help with that, LinkedIn has published its new ‘Get Hired’ report offering insights including which jobs and skills are most in demand from employers looking to nurture up-and-coming talent.

Whether you want a career in healthcare or design, media or retail, there are a range of options to you explore in the lists, as well as tips on the skills you should try to emphasise to secure a dream role.
