Toni Braxton cast as herself in “The Neighborhood” season 6 finale based on Beyoncé concert

The episode is based on the true story of cast member Marcel Spears' daughter almost being born at a Beyoncé concert.

Toni Braxton is taking her talents to a new neighborhood.

EW can exclusively reveal that the "Un-Break My Heart" singer has been cast in The Neighborhood. She will play herself in the upcoming season 6 finale loosely based on the true story of how cast member Marcel Spears' first child was almost born at a Beyoncé concert.

According to the official logline for the finale, "The whole crew heads out to see Toni Braxton live in concert, but just as the concert begins, Courtney’s [Skye Townsend] water breaks."

"Season 6 of The Neighborhood has been a wonderful labor of love (pun intended)," Cedric the Entertainer tells EW. "We are even more excited to have the legendary songstress Toni Braxton join our lovefest as a guest star on the season finale. Make sure you watch!"

Last September, Spears and his girlfriend Sarah Francis Jones realized she was going into labor while at the final night of Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour in Los Angeles. It was days before their scheduled C-section, and the couple thought Jones was experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions so they first went home after the concert before eventually deciding to go to the hospital. They made it in time for the birth of their daughter Nola Renai (middle name short for Renaissance as a nod to Beyoncé).

Braxton, a multiple Grammy Award-winning singer and actress, has previously popped up to play herself on Roc, Blue's Clues, Mad TV, and The Masked Singer, as well as on her own reality show, Braxton Family Values.

Created by Jim Reynolds, The Neighborhood is about a white family who moves into a predominantly Black neighborhood in California. The sitcom also stars Cedric the Entertainer, Tichina Arnold, Sheaun McKinney, Max Greenfield, Beth Behrs, and Hank Greenspan.

The Neighborhood airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
