Tom Cruise devours two curries during visit to Birmingham restaurant

Tom Cruise has gone viral for ordering not one but two chicken tikka masalas at a Birmingham curry house on Saturday night.

The Hollywood actor is in the region shooting the seventh Mission: Impossible movie, and during a break in production, Cruise and a group of friends - believed to include the film's director Christopher McQuarrie - paid a visit to Asha's Indian restaurant in Birmingham.

After his meal, Cruise posed for a socially distanced photo with staff outside the restaurant, and the employees shared the picture on Twitter on Sunday, with them revealing that the Top Gun star enjoyed their chicken tikka masala so much that he ordered more.

"It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Tom Cruise to Asha's Birmingham yesterday evening," the tweet read. "Tom ordered our famous Chicken Tikka Masala and enjoyed it so much that as soon as he had finished, he ordered it all over again - The greatest compliment."

General manager Nouman Farooqui told BirminghamLive that the A-list star asked for the meals to have extra spices and didn't want to cause a stir among other diners.

"Tom arrived at 6pm and the picture was taken on my folding Samsung phone by one of his security team at 8.10pm as he was leaving. When he came he said he didn't want any fuss and just wanted to be part of the atmosphere," he said. "He wanted a meal just like any other guest and simply wanted to enjoy an authentic Indian meal."

He added that the other diners "went a little bit crazy" once Cruise had left the establishment.
