Timothée Chalamet is said to be in talks to play Bob Dylan in a new biopic. Going Electric will focus on the period when the musician swapped his acoustic guitar for an electric version, prompting an outcry among fans.

Director James Mangold is working with Dylan himself on the movie, which will be produced by Searchlight. Mangold is well versed in the world of biopics - his latest film, Ford v Ferrari, focuses on the rivalry between the US and Italian car-makers, and 2005's Walk The Line, about the life of Johnny Cash and his relationship with June Carter, won Reese Witherspoon an Oscar.

It is unknown about whether Chalamet will sing Dylan's tunes, but Deadline reports that the actor is currently learning how to play the guitar. The 24-year-old currently stars in Greta Gerwig's Little Women, winning critical acclaim for his performance of Laurie.

Chalamet will next head to London's West End in April for 4,000 Miles, the Old Vic production of Amy Herzog’s Pulitzer-nominated drama. In terms of cinema, he also stars in Wes Anderson's next film, The French Dispatch, out later this year.
