This TikTok Hack For The Crispiest Roast Potatoes Of Your Life Uses Your Favourite Condiment

Christmas Day is within our sights! Can you believe we’ve nearly made it to Christmas Day 2021?!

So, it’s time to start getting your Christmas lunch plans in place. Like, have you decided how you’ll be cooking your roast potatoes this year? Because, if you fancy trying something a little different that gives you the tastiest, crispiest roast potatoes of your life, this TikTok hack is the thing for you.

We recently spotted Eitan Bernath’s tip for making incredible roast potatoes on his TikTok (@eitan), and it involves everyone’s favourite condiment. Yup… mayonnaise.

Eitan cooks his roasties by slathering them with a big ol’ spoonful of mayo, before adding pepper, garlic, paprika and fresh parsley, before putting them in the oven for 20 minutes.

He says that this cooking method creates roast potatoes which are “perfectly soft and pillowy on the inside, crunchy on the outside and full of flavour.”

Seriously… how good do those potatoes look?!

We’ve also come across another Christmas dinner-based mayonnaise hack. But this one’s to stop your turkey drying out.

According to Chef and Culinary Director of Food & Wine, Justin Chapple, the key is mayonnaise. Yup – you heard… everyone’s favourite condiment is the one thing you need to stop your turkey going dry this festive season.

Justin simply mixes one tablespoon of chopped fresh thyme with 128g of mayonnaise, the zest of a whole lemon, three grated garlic cloves and minced chipotle chillies. If you want to keep things simple though, you could very easily just stick with the 128g of mayo.

Justin then explains that all you have to do is loosen the skin on the turkey breasts and thighs and spread the mayo on top of it and under it. Justin also says it’s a good shout to fold the wing tips back so that as much heat as possible can go around the turkey.

He then goes on to stuff his turkey like he usually would and cook it like normal.

So how does this mayonnaise hack work?

Justin explains to Food & Wine, “When you cover your turkey with mayonnaise, it bastes it during the roasting process, keeping the meat moist and tender.

“You want to put the mayo on the outside and inside of the turkey so it gets extra juicy.”

Will you be giving these mayo hacks a turn this Christmas Day?
