Three customers hospitalised as raiders with machete target Manchester cafe

Three people have been hospitalised after raiders targeted a cafe in Manchester armed with a machete, suspected shotgun and baseball bat.

Customers at the shop in Princess Road, Moss Side, were threatened by three men who then demanded they hand over their personal belongings and a set of car keys.

The offenders made off in a white Range Rover belonging to one of the victims, and a white BMW 3 Series.

Three members of the public, aged in their 20s, were taken to hospital on Saturday. Their injuries are not thought to be serious, said Greater Manchester Police.

Officers later found the stolen Range Rover in the Fallowfield area of the city.

Four suspects aged 18, 19, 23 and 58 - as well as two males aged 17 - have been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Supt Mark Dexter said: "Thankfully no-one was seriously injured but the victims have been left understandably shaken following this incident.

"It is thanks to the swift action of our officers that we now have six men in custody, but this investigation is still very much ongoing and officers will be in the area today continuing with inquiries.
