If you've ever struggled to fall asleep, any sort of outside light makes the task a million times harder.

Enter the holy grail of sleep masks: the Bedtime Bliss. It's dark enough to block out light, contoured so it doesn't put pressure on your eyes and, if that doesn't convince you, more than 7,500 people have rated it four stars or higher on Amazon US.

And, shoppers here in the UK also seem pretty impressed – the brand's Sleep Mask & Ear Plug Set has already had nearly 300 five-star reviews on Amazon UK.

It'll set you back just £8.90 right now (including a set of ear plugs) so get ready for some uninterrupted sleep even if you're on a bright car ride or dealing with extra noisy building works near by.

The makers claim the mask completely blocks out light making it easier for your body to produce melatonin.

While some US reviewers said a little bit of sunshine still snuck in, the majority were happy with the sleep they received.

One reviewer, who says he needs complete darkness and quiet to drift off, claims this mask was game-changing.

"I am so happy that I found this mask! It is extremely comfortable, very soft and doesn't come off when you move around. It is so soft that you can't even feel it when wearing it, and the ear plugs are absolutely perfect, they mould perfectly to your ear canal and completely block out all sound."

Another said they finally stuck with the Bedtime Bliss after trying out a lot of sleep products.

"I can safely say that this is the best sleep mask that I have used. It is super comfortable and it is constructed from a material that feels like memory foam a bit. It is firm and form holding but soft and can form nicely to your face. It also comes with ear plugs and a carry pouch if that is important to you."

While she hasn't tested this particular product, Lexie Sachs, a senior textiles analyst in the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles, Paper & Plastics Lab, says, in general, a contoured sleep mask tends to be well-liked by consumers.

"This particular shape offers good comfort because the fabric is moulded, so it doesn't touch your eyes directly, but it still blocks out light. It offers a great fit, is lightweight and is easy to put on."

So there you have it - the secret to a good night's sleep could cost you less than a tenner...
