This Morning fans were miffed when the show was cut short for the budget.

At the start of Thursday's instalment of the ITV programme, hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield told viewers they would be wrapping up earlier than usual, finishing at 11.15am instead of the usual 12.30pm.

The show also tweeted: "We've got a slightly shorter show for you today, as we'll be handing over to ITV News for coverage of the budget at 11:15, but we're with you on ITV1 and STV until then, so come and join us!"

However, many viewers were annoyed about the switch to watching chancellor Jeremy Hunt unveiled his autumn statment, and said they would have preferred to stick with the daytime favourite.

"Will be turning it over then, we have plenty of options to watch the budget if we want to..." one person tweeted.

Another said: "So they've binned #ThisMorning for the #AutumnBudget why not keep news on news channels, there's enough of them."

"Needed to feel good today and not see depressing news," said somebody else.

One person wrote: "Hands up if you’d rather have another hour or so of #ThisMorning than news coverage of the Chancellor’s statement."

They then added a GIF that said: "That would be me."

"Don't we have news channels and the BBC if we want to watch the budget," asked another fed up viewer.

One fan asked for Willoughby and Schofield to be put back on, tweeting: "Yesterday Loose Women were talking about how the news makes them feel depressed.

"Well this Autumn budget is making me depressed."
