This Is The First Advert To Feature An Actual Sanitary Towel

Menstrual hygiene companies are finally starting to realise that women aren’t actually terrified by their monthly gift’.

We all know that a period means blood coming out of your vagina and, while no one’s too chuffed at the prospect of bleeding for a week, we want the reality of our menstrual cycles acknowledged.

After releasing the first sanitary towel ad to feature actual blood last month, Bodyform have smashed it again by creating an ad that shows a sanitary towel in a real life situation - something which is, oddly, never shown.

The clip shows an acrobat prepping for a performance before whacking a sanitary towel in her pants and going on to boss her show.

“Showing blood for the first time in our Red.Fit feature film really highlighted what else was currently missing from feminine care advertising – and that was showing physical product in a real-life situation,” said Bodyform marketing director, Nicola Coronado.

“Real women use Bodyform products, so we wanted to ensure our advertising reflected this.”

The advert will be shown on TV and in cinemas from 24 October.
