This guy popped the question to his girlfriend then married her three hours later

When it comes to popping the question, as well as the romance (obvs) up there in importance is the element of surprise. But one groom completely upped the ante on the shock factor after proposing to his long term girlfriend.

Last Friday during a weekend away in Colorado Zach Baldwin got down on bended knee in front of his girlfriend Catie Bossard. Though taken aback, Catie agreed to become Mrs Baldwin, but Zach wasn’t done with the surprises just yet. Because unbeknown to his new fiance Zach had already planned the wedding for that very same day.

Taking to the Love What Matters Facebook page Catie recounted the romantic story of her double engagement/wedding celebration and expressed her total gratitude to Zach and the friends and family who made the amazing day possible.

“I look up and see his family and a few friends come running down to celebrate,” she wrote. “He said: ‘I have a second question. Would you want to get married today? Everything is set up. Your dress, plans, EVERYONE is here.’”

Zach told her that the wedding would be good to go in around three hours and after accepting the proposal with a resounding ‘Let’s do it!’ Catie was whisked away to get ready in a pre-prepared bridal suite.

Turns out Catie’s groom to be had thought of everything with hair, makeup, the suit and most importantly the wedding dress all taken care of. And as anyone who’s ever watched Don’t Tell The Bride will understand, this could have been a complete dealbreaker.

“Everyone we tell this story to is so concerned about the dress!,” Catie wrote.

“My mum and sister picked out a dress and my two best friends Alex and Amanda picked out another. It was easy. Tried them both on and went with the one that I felt most comfortable in. Oh, and it was beautiful,” she added.

The couple’s nuptials took place at the top of Vail Mountain in a ceremony performed by one of Catie’s best friends, while Zach had drafted in one of his friends, Landon Momberg, to photograph the happy event.

“I never will never fully understand what was going on in Zach’s head but I am certain he knows me better than anyone in this world,” Catie continued.

“I never wanted a big wedding. I never wanted to spend hours finding a ‘perfect dress’. I never wanted to make a guest list and think I left someone out. I never wanted to plan this ‘perfect wedding’ that I never wanted,” she says.

“What I wanted was to marry my best friend. I wanted exactly what Zach gave me. Love. Friendship. A sense of peace when he’s around. Marriage is so much more than a wedding or party.”

Since posting the couples story has been liked more than 25K times and received hundreds of comments from people touched by the romantic gesture.

“Absolutely LOVE this! What a beautiful way to start your life together! (and also to have everything planned for you!)…I wasn’t big on the whole planning process myself! HOW WONDERFUL!!,” wrote one woman.

“Oh my gosh. I could not love this story any more. So romantic and thoughtful. Congratulations!” added another.

“Wow I just want to cry, probably THE best engagement and wedding story in the history of stories, EVER,” another fan commented.
