This Gadget Is Designed To Keep Your Kids Safe At The Pool

A new wearable gadget has been designed to alert parents or lifeguards if children get into trouble while swimming.

The SEAL SwinSafe comprises a smart necklace designed for kids, along with a cup-shaped hub that sits on dry land near to the adult.

The techie collar sends signals to the hub and changes colour to keep concerned parents updated.

Different coloured lights indicate when children are in the water, how long they’ve been submerged for, or if they’re too far away from the hub.

If the hub detects that the child has been underwater for too long, flashing lights and an alarm alert the parent.

Crowd funded on Indiegogo, the gadget is now available for $379 on Amazon.com.

Of course, no gadget can ever replace constant supervision when kids are anywhere near water.

The gadget isn’t designed to replace lifeguards or parental supervision, but has been trialled in YMCAs in the U.S to improve child safety in the water.

The idea of kids wearing a collar may not be too appealing for everyone, but it has been designed to be easy to remove so that it doesn’t pose a choking hazard.
