I Think This Is the Most Interesting Jumper Trend Around

Joy Montgomery

Forget loud prints or extroverted accessories, because I have long been an advocate of the devil-is-in-the-detail trend. Whether it's a subtle heel shape, unusual sleeve silhouette or specific shade of blue, my eye is always drawn to those details that only fashion nerds such as myself will appreciate. So what's caught my eye this season? It has to be the cut-out jumper.

When cold-shoulder jumpers had a moment in the spotlight back in 2017, I couldn't quite get on board. Maybe it was the blatant impracticality of the trend (although, let's be honest, that hasn't put me off before) or just the way it was translated into high-street stores, but for some reason this season's offering feels like a far more chic and sophisticated update on the cutout trend.

Thanks to the sellout stylings of Bottega Veneta and Rosie HW, the cutout turtleneck has had plenty of airtime over the last couple of months, offering the ultimate mix of jumper and going-out top. Other interpretations include key-hole cutouts, shoulder slashes and even elbow notches (see Live the Process's knits). However, they all come in classic shades of black, white, beige and grey, so whatever your chosen design you'll know it'll go with everything you own. I'll be tucking mine into a pair of high-waisted tailored trousers or a knitted skirt for on-trend winter polish. Scroll down to shop our full cutout knitwear edit.

Style Notes: A white cutout knit is just what a leather midi skirt needs to create a polished smart causal winter outfit.

Style Notes: Everyone is losing it over Pixie Market's slashed roll-neck knits, which also happen to come in at an affordable price point. Just saying.

Style Notes: You know that if Pernille wears something you should take note. We love how she's styled her knit top with leather culottes and strappy sandals.
