As the nation enthusiastically prepares its gardens, pavements and homes in honour of Queen Elizabeth II becoming the longest-serving British monarch ever, if you have yet to make plans to mark the event then there is still plenty of time to join in the fun, with jubilee weekend 2022 events, both official and fringe, happening all over Britain.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee is set to take place over a special four-day bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June, 2022 in line with the monarch's coronation on the June 2, 1953. The holiday will be observed across the nation, by the Thursday and Friday bank holiday – including a special 1am pub closing time - in order to maximise on the merriment.

Plenty of initiatives, parties and plaques have sprung up across the nation in order to commemorate the milestone, however with big-bill events, like the Platinum Party at (Buckingham) Palace concert on Saturday June 4, already sold out via balloted tickets (catch it on the BBC instead), from street parties to floating gardens here are some ELLE UK's picks of the best - yet - alternative ways to join in the jubliee weekend festivities.

Burberry Floating Meadow

In honour of the Platinum Jubilee weekend celebrations, the British heritage brand in partnership with Superbloom (the minds behind the Tower Of London's commemorative display) have designed a zero-waste floating meadow. Comprised of over 5,000 plants and created to celebrate the flora and fauna found across English river ecosystems and riverbanks such as the Thames, the installation - housed just a short walk from Tower Bridge Station - used 1.4 tonnes of recycled plastic collected from rivers.

All plants used in the commemorative display will be replanted by Burberry volunteers and live on in local community projects after the installation has closed and, as a festive keepsake, floating meadow maps created from seeded paper and vegetable inks, means you can plant your very own meadow at home. If you don't manage to snag a spot to visit the dream meadow, then you can pick up one of the brand's exclusive commemorative scarves made in honour of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
