  • Alton Towers is the location for a new 10K and half marathon from race organisers RunThrough Events

Ever dreamed of racing in a theme park? Race organisers RunThrough have announced a new 10K and half marathon for autumn – and they will take place in the grounds of Alton Towers Resort.

The races are scheduled for Sunday, November 14. The theme park will be closed to visitors, meaning runners can finish their race, then jump on a ride or two before heading home.

According to RunThrough, the route ‘takes in almost all areas of the resort’. The course will be a 10K loop, which half-marathon runners will complete twice.

RunThrough have over 200 chip-timed races UK wide, as well as events in Hampton Court Palace, Goodwood Motor Circuit and Colchester Zoo.

Online entry to the Alton Towers 10K and half marathon is now open. Early bird entry costs £38 for the 10K and £40 for the half marathon. All finishers will receive a themed medal, a RunThrough T-shirt, free photography, a goody bag and free use of the theme park rides after the race, with the resort exclusively open to runners and their spectators.
