There's finally a beer created specifically for drinking while you shower
It probably started from having to simultaneously get ready and drink in a rush, but now a shower beer has become a ubiquitous part of going out.
Waiting around for five minutes while your conditioner sinks in can often feel like a waste of time when you’ve got to leave in half an hour, so why not start drinking at the same time?
Shower beers (see also: shower ciders/shower wine/delete as appropriate) are the perfect accompaniment to a good playlist and a face mask as you get ready for a night out.
And now, a company in Sweden has created a beer to be downed specifically in the shower.
Swedish craft brewery PangPang and the creative agency Snask worked together to create the 10% ABV ‘Shower Beer’ – and at 10%, you won’t need to drink heavily before you start feeling the benefits.
Described as “a sweet but strong pale ale in a 18 cl (six-ounce) small bottle meant to gulp in three sips while standing in the shower getting ready for the night” it might not be quite as easy to drink as your standard bottle, but it’s the ultimate multi-tasking drink.
“We always loved the concept of drinking beer in the shower, so the idea to create a beer that would be drunk while showering was a must,” Snask Founder and Creative Director Fredrik Öst told MUNCHIES. “But we also wanted to create a beer that would kickstart your night, hence a strong but sweet beer that would be sipped in three to four sips while getting ready.”
PangPang brewery founder Fredrik Tunedal continued: “The idea for a Shower Beer is an universal thing, I think.
“Looking through the hashtag #showerbeer it’s easy to see that people all over the world love that feeling of a hot shower and an ice cold beer. I just wanted to try to optimise the experience by trying to customise a brew for this glorious occasion.”
Initially, the Shower Beer was meant to be a one-time release thing, but due to overwhelming demand it’s already on the way for a second round of orders.
“We did this first batch that wasn’t that big. It was mostly for the Swedish market and we wanted to have it for ourselves,” Tunedal said. “It sold out so fast. There’s quite an interest in it.”
And if, like us, you can’t focus while multi-tasking, don’t fret, because this beer can also be used as conditioner.
So there you go – if you’re struggling to get everything done before you leave the house then you can now relax, because this is practically a reason for an pre-night out drink.
