  • 'Forest Runner' is a new series of 5K and 10K events coming to forests all over the UK this autumn.

Looking for a new challenge? A new Forest Runner series has been announced by Forestry England, following a successful running series in 2019. Instead of being the first to the finish line, the Forest Runner series is all about enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

The race locations are as follows:

  • Westonbirt, The National Arboretum, 12 September

  • Delamere Forest, 19 September

  • Bedgebury Pinetum, 26 September

  • Salcey Forest, 10 October

  • Sherwood Pines Forest, 17 October

  • Hamsterley Forest, Sun 24 October

  • High Lodge, Thetford Forest, 31 October

  • Whinlatter Forest, Sun 7 November

  • Cannock Forest, 14 November

  • Forest of Dean, Mallards Pike, 28 November

All runners will receive a goody bag and a wooden medal upon finishing the course, as well as the chance to win some Merrell prizes, as the official Forest Runner event sponsor.

Peter Rawlinson, from Forestry England’s Active Forests Programme, said, 'It’s been fantastic to see how many people have been enjoying running in the nation’s forests throughout the ups and downs of the past year.

'We have over 250km of waymarked trails for runners to enjoy and with Merrell’s support, we are delighted to be launching this new event series to deepen people’s connections with the nation’s forests. We aim to inspire future generations to run in the forests for years to come.'
