Thandie Newton excluded from Time's Up movement

Thandie Newton has said that Hollywood did not want her participation in the Time's Up movement because she isn't 'hot enough'. The actress – who is currently starring in Westworld – believes that she was ostracised because she isn't famous enough.

'I wasn't hot enough,' she told the Daily Telegraph. 'I wasn't mainstream enough and I wasn't going to be at the Oscars this year, even though I am having a renaissance in my career.'

Newton has previously spoken publicly about being sexually abused by an unnamed casting director when she was a teenager. Despite this, she said that she was not asked to be part of the Time's Up movement, something which she found "very painful".

Many prominent women in Hollywood have been involved in the movement including Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey and Natalie Portman.

Newton went on to say that even though she was ostracised by Hollywood years ago for coming forward with her own story, it was worth it.

'I felt that is there was a girl whose family was thinking about putting their child into show business, that would help them decide. That was all I cared about.'
