There’s no one that can work a trouser suit like Jane Fonda. Or a column dress. Or a jumpsuit. Or a catsuit. Or a faux ponytail.

Or, as she stepped out at last night’s 2019 SAG Awards, a sequinned fish-scale encrusted gown by Valentino complete with a $3 million (£2.27 million) ring by Italian jeweller Gismondi 1754.

The woman is the ultimate clothes horse – and we only mean that as a compliment.

The 81-year-old film star, model and activist is the ultimate style icon. Over the course of her career, Jane Fonda has slayed on the red carpet in one winning look after another and been willing to take multiple sartorial gambles.

From a ruffled Saint Laurent gown at the Golden Globes to a fierce stomach-showing Balmain co-ord, this is one A-lister who’s here to teach us all a thing or two about dressing for the red carpet – whatever your age.
