Terry Crews is one of the most muscular presences on TV, with characters ranging from swole police sergeant Terry Jeffords on Brooklyn Nine-Nine to swole pitchman for Old Spice to swole host of America's Got Talent. The former football player-turned actor is renowned for his physique, most notably his pecs, making his bouncing chest muscles the focal point of many a sight gag.
But Crews doesn't just focus on his upper body—this guy does not skip leg day. As if that weren't abundantly clear, the actor shared a complete look at a lower body-focused training session to his Facebook profile. The video, set to a jaunty track, features Crews straining and grunting his way through a heavy weight routine, complete with squats, machines, and more. Crews called it his "PERSONAL workout routine."
Want to take on Crews' workout yourself? Unless you've got a fully-stocked home setup at your disposal, you'll probably have to hit the gym. Crews uses plenty of heavy weights and machines to build his lower body muscle. As always, scale appropriately in regard to your experience and abilities—no one expects you to lift like Crews, even if you are doing his workout.
While Crews doesn't share his exact split with set or reps counts, you can give this routine a try by performing 3 to 4 sets of 6 to 8 reps for each movement.
Terry Crews' Leg Day Workout
Barbell Back Squat
Crews starts by loading up a barbell for squats. Note how he hits a parallel depth, but doesn't descend any lower—that is likely what works for him and his goals. Need a refresher on form? Check out our guide.
Next, Crews moves over to the leg press. Again, he works through a range of motion that works for him.
Walking lunges are also a favorite of extra-large actor The Rock, who often uses the exercise in his own lower body splits. To start, you can lunge without weights. Walk for 20 yards at a time for 3 rounds.
Bulgarian Split Squat
Crews performs the Bulgarian split squat without weights—which isn't the worst idea if you have issues with your balance. Check out the best way to set up for the exercise here.
Crews finishes up on another machine, working through another squat variation. Thanks to his position, he's able to place emphasis on his quads.
