Manchester United are reportedly ‘prepared to listen to offers’ for Anthony Martial this summer, as they look to make room for a new centre-forward.

It’s no secret Erik ten Hag wants to bring in attacking reinforcements. But, with the Frenchman edging towards an exit, that will become even more pressing.

Martial has had some good moments in a Man Utd shirt but has never really lived up to his potential. Now, this could be the Red Devil’s chance to bring in the ideal strike partner for Marcus Rashford.

Rashford has been in tremendous form this season, scoring an impressive 29 goals across all competitions. However, if Man Utd want to challenge for trophies again, he could certainly do with some support.

As reported by Football365, the Red Devils are considering moves for Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and several other potential targets.

Although, given their ongoing takeover, which is taking much longer than anticipated, they could have limited funds to spend in the transfer window.

Indeed, this could mean Man Utd will need to sell players before they can buy this summer. As a result, offloading Martial could be a smart move, if they can find someone who wants to buy him.

According to TEAMtalk, Erik ten Hag is ‘willing’ to sell the striker this summer after being left unconvinced by his performances.

Martial became the most expensive teenager of all time in September 2015 when Man Utd paid Monaco an initial £36million to sign him. The deal, however, had the potential to be worth £58m depending on add-ons.

Despite some flashes of brilliance, inconsistency and injuries have prevented the 27-year-old from living up to his sky-high expectations.

This season, Martial has been restricted to 25 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing three assists overall.

TEAMtalk note that the striker will only have one year remaining on his contract at the end of the season, and Man Utd don’t want to lose him on a free transfer.

Martial spent the second half of last season on loan at Spanish club Sevilla. However, it is unlikely they will come back in for him this summer as he only managed one goal in 12 outings during his time in Spain.

Martial is far from the only player who may be offloaded by Ten Hag ahead of next season, though.

Indeed, the likes of Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire, Anthony Elanga and Brandon Williams are also facing uncertain futures at Man Utd.

So, Ten Hag could be set to offload more than one big name at the end of the season, as he looks to make the Red Devils title contenders once again.
