Teenager 'raped in park by man who tried to start conversation with her'

A teenager has told police she was raped in a Haringey park by a man who approached her and attempted a conversation with her last night.

Police were called out at 7.10pm after the incident in Chestnuts Park and have launched an investigation.

The teenager said she was approached by a man who tried to start a conversation with her before raping her.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “The victim later alerted a family member who called police.

“There have been no arrests. A crime scene is in place and enquiries continue.”

A Haringey Council documents show that there were 13 reported crimes in the park last year.

Two of those were for sexual assaults and three were for thefts. The park accounted for just 3% of all reported crime in Haringey’s parks.
