2020 was a busy year for Taylor Swift to say the least, with the singer surprising fans with not one, but two, brand new albums, Folklore and Evermore.

And true to form, Taylor's fans were quick to devise their own theories on the meanings behind her new tracks, including speculation on her secret marriage to Joe Alwyn, her possible shading of Tom Hiddleston, and clues which fans reckon point towards the name of Zayn and Gigi's new baby.

Fans' latest theory suggested that Taylor's new Evermore track, 'It's Time To Go' could be about her friendship with Karlie Kloss, which is thought to have broken down in recent years.

However, Taylor has now taken to Instagram herself to clarify the real meaning behind the song.

In the original theory, fans thought that the lyrics of 'It's Time To Go' pointed towards a rumoured feud between Taylor and Karlie, with fans referencing the lyrics: "When the words of a sister come back in whispers, that prove she was not, in fact, what she seemed. Not a twin from your dreams, she's a crook who was caught. "

But Taylor has stepped up to explain the real meaning behind 'It's Time To Go', along with another Evermore bonus track, 'Right Where You Left Me'.

Sharing a photo of herself on Instagram, Taylor wrote in the caption:

"the evermore deluxe album with 2 bonus tracks 'right where you left me' and 'it鈥檚 time to go' is now available! The first is a song about a girl who stayed forever in the exact spot where her heart was broken, completely frozen in time. 'it鈥檚 time to go' is about listening to your gut when it tells you to leave. How you always know before you know, you know? 馃崅"

So, it sounds like 'It's Time To Go' isn't about a friendship feud after all. Somehow, we don't reckon that will stop Swifties from dissecting the lyrics even further, though...

Neither Swift nor Kloss have commented directly on the theories surrounding their friendship.
