If you want to know what’s good on the ever-growing UK music scene, Tiffany Calver should be your first port of call.

The UK-born DJ may only be 25 years old but she is already smashing glass ceilings with every turn as the first female host of The Rap Show - and her career has only been going from strength to strength ever since.

A true one to watch, the BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra regular was invited to open for Drake during his world Assassination Vacation tour and is well-known and beloved for her advocacy of local artists with a knack for the stars of tomorrow.

We caught up with Calver to talk Christmas, gifting and her seasonal playlist.

What does Christmas 2020 look like for you?

I'll be in the countryside where phone signal goes to die, and my mother serves wine and snacks on tap. My family came to visit me a few weeks ago and I made a roast, and now I'm scared the Christmas Dinner duties have been passed onto me. That'll teach me to do a good job.

What is on your Christmas wish list this year?

Onion goggles. Some Le Creuset bits. Maybe some toilet roll for banter. Candles are always a winner. The older I get the more I actually appreciate socks...

What's the best Christmas gift you've ever given, or received?

This guy I liked was obsessed with The Wire, so I got Detective Lester to make him a video for Christmas. It was jokes! Or sending all my family on holiday.

Best gift I've ever received is all the weird and wonderful things my little brother gets me. I think Christmas Day is my gift in itself because it's the one day I actually switch off.

What's your failsafe gift idea?

Nobody gets mad at a bottle of champagne.

What is the one item you can't live without?

Carbs!

What was your guilt-free lockdown purchase?

I don't think there's been a week where my house has been box-free. Online shopping in itself is a pandemic. Most guilt free purchase is probably a Peloton. I'm yet to use it though.

What are your tour essentials?

USBs, headphones, wet wipes, deodorant, hand sanitiser, and most importantly...a lot of tequila! Absolute essential.

What’s on your virtual Christmas party playlist?

I imagine some Tom Misch, Jay Z, Knucks, Yussef Dayes, Griselda, Amy Winehouse, Ari Lennox, some Mariah Carey (naturally) and the most important Christmas album ever made: 8 Days of Christmas by Destiny’s Child. My mum will likely take over the speakers at some point and start ringing off Lil Kim too.
