Taraji P. Henson has been "a whole different girl" since adopting a workout regime during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In recent years, the Empire actress had abided by a mostly vegan diet to help with her small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) diagnosis, which caused episodes of uncontrolled vomiting and weight loss.
However, Taraji relaxed her diet and exercise plan during the first coronavirus lockdown, and soon noticed an impact on her mental and physical wellbeing.
"I was like, 'This can sink me.' The older you get, the harder it is to get in shape. I didn't want to be climbing out of a hole," she shared in an interview for the November 2021 issue of Women's Health magazine, adding that she realised she'd hit her lowest when she woke up surrounded by crumbs in her bed one day. "That's when I realised I had to do everything I could to feel good, or that depression thing was going to get the best of me."
However, once Taraji hired celebrity trainer Mike T. to help her get back to her best in August 2020, she was happy to get back into the gym and quickly noticed changes in herself.
"When I get those endorphins going, I'm like a whole different girl," the star insisted.
