There's a reason the internet is infatuated with Meghan Markle. Commoner-turned-princess, the 37-year-old royal has stolen our hearts with her nonchalant take on royal tradition, her outspoken attitude and of course, her enviable style.
Given her new title and role in the royal family, Meghan's been tossed into the spotlight, where eagle-eyed viewers are quick to call out everything from her slight wardrobe mishaps to her unusual footwear choices -- and now, her "deceiving" height.
Unlike Kate, we never see Meghan without heels, which begs a totally random question for royal fans: How tall is Meghan?
Business Insider reported that since Meghan and Harry's May nuptials, the Duchess of Sussex's height has become "one of the most searched facts" on the royal.
The Mirror explains that although Meghan isn't considered "short" with her 5’6’’ frame, she kind of is in comparison to Prince Harry, who towers at 6'1", and the rest of her new family. Meanwhile, Prince William stands at a tall 6’3’’, while his wife Kate Middleton, at 5'9", does not shy away from heels either. Both couples have a 5-6 inch height difference between them.
But, there's more to the Duchess of Sussex's love for sky-high footwear. It's not just that she wants to be taller -- it's more out of necessity.
"Careful use of wardrobe choices will be important for Harry and Meghan to make the couples height difference is minimised," explained celeb photographer Glenn Gratton, according to Glamour Magazine.
Her sartorial choices are not just a fashion choice, but each piece creates the illusion that Meghan is taller than she actually is. "The shape of skirts will also give the optical illusion to make her look taller than she actually is," Cratton explained.
"Couples with a big height difference look slightly unbalanced in pictures, and often the smaller of the two ends up looking even smaller and is constantly looking up at their partner."
