It takes a lot to surprise the fashion crowd but the bizarre accessory certainly took the front row by surprise.
Vivienne Westwood walked in her own fashion show, because she is a Dame of the British Empire, a counter culture legend, and 75 years old. Among those who cheered her on were Rita Ora (“I’m obsessed with her because I’m obsessed with punk, and she basically made punk happen”) and Pamela Anderson, a longtime friend of the fellow fashion activist. “We actually met because we were both petitioning for [political prisoner] Leonard Pelletier’s clemency,” Anderson told us before the show.
Pamela Anderson is one of Vivienne Westwood’s favorite muses. Pamela Anderson is a needle in a haystack for the new SS17 campaign for Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood. The ads show models in a host of unusual materials, but Anderson’s outfit takes the proverbial cake: She’s wearing practically an entire bale of hay. When you’ve got it, you’ve got it, though, and Anderson still has it at age 49.
This season of Fashion Week, there was one accessory spotted practically everywhere that proved very hard to ignore. Most recently, a series of face masks took to the runway at designer Nguyen Cong Tri’s show at Tokyo Fashion Week. Gareth Pugh’s use of masks in his latest AW16 collection at London Fashion Week was pretty terrifying.
We’ll take one of each of these dresses, please. [Photo: Rex/Yahoo Style UK] Over the past few weeks, the “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” cast has been touring the world promoting the final installment of the hit franchise. And in addition to promoting the new film, the leading ladies have proved just how style-savvy they all are. Or how great their stylists are.
Zendaya Coleman, the outspoken Disney star who slays with her fashion-forward sense of style, ever-changing wigs, and amazing words, is at Paris Fashion Week and her presence isn’t just a breath of fresh air, it’s the missing piece, the thing you didn’t even know you needed until it made its spectacular grand entrance. The Kardashian-Jenners are overexposed (the Hadid sisters as well), Rihanna is cool but also cool, and Elizabeth Olsen is beautiful and has sisters who make amazing clothes but — let’s be honest — kind of boring. Then comes Zendaya, walking through Charles de Gaulle in athleisure, appearing like a beacon of hope. She dresses in outfits many wouldn’t dare try, cozies up to the kooky Vivienne Westwood and even wears her equally out-there designs, changes her hair from cornrows to a pixie to a topknot based on her mood, and doesn’t hold back from saying what’s on her mind. When she opens her mouth and words come out, they’re poetic and prophetic, whether she’s responding to a paparazzi asking if she has any advice to young girls “who think they’re ugly and stuff,” or tweeting explainers regarding the technicalities behind wigs. All hail Zendaya. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest for nonstop inspiration delivered fresh to your feed, every day.
The former Bond girl flaunted her enviable frame at the Hollywood Foreign Press Assocation Grants Banquet in LA last night, wearing a cut out figure-hugging dress that proved she’s still just as toned as ever. Lady Gaga, 29, also attended the event, and looked every inch the snow queen in a bridal-esque off-the-shoulder white Vivienne Westwood frock that paired nicely with her white-blonde locks. Lady Gaga went all Snow Queen for the glam event. The new mum, who attended the event on the arm of her handsome hubby John Krasinski, teamed her look with opened toe heels, a black clutch and a chic updo.
