First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced that from New Year’s Day 2017, Scottish parents will be gifted “baby boxes”. In Finland, the boxes, which contain around 80 useful items including baby clothes and nappies as well as an actual space for a baby to sleep in, have been credited with cutting infant mortality.
Forbes Magazine has released its 100 Most Powerful Women in the World list and as per it’s pretty goddam inspiring. It’s probably no surprise that first on the list was German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who has been named number-one Power Woman for six years running, making it the 11th time in total she has held the number-one spot. Third place went to the Chair of the Washington Federal Reserve, Janet Yellen, with Melinda Gates ranked in fourth and the CEO of General Motors, Mary Barra, completing the top five.
