Yesterday, Downing Street confirmed that Theresa May will become the first British Prime Minister to cover US Vogue, when the April 2017 issue of the magazine hits stands. While Margaret Thatcher posed for British Vogue on a number of occasions, no UK leader – female or otherwise – has modelled for the original, American, version of the fashion bible. Quite an achievement for the 60-year-old.May, who’s well-known for her love of fashion, reportedly posed for lauded portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz at Chequers – the country house retreat for the PM.The cover is clearly a promotional move that May was keen to do. She admitted that a lifetime’s subscription to the magazine would be her luxury item when she appeared on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Desert Island Discs’ programme. This may be the first time a British Prime Minister has scored a Vogue cover, but it’s by no means the first time a woman working – or associated – with politics has covered a glossy. Samantha Cameron never scooped a Vogue cover during her time at No. 10, but she did pose for Harper’s Bazaar while her husband was the Tory party leader. And Michelle Obama modelled for a whole host of leading titles (US Vogue included) during her eight years in the White House.Above, see how many of these magazine covers you remember.Michelle Obama reveals her other career plansPrincess Diana is being honoured with a public holiday
Scoring a September issue cover is a big deal - after all, it is the biggest magazine each fashion publication produces annually. So, you can understand Kendall Jenner’s excitement at shooting her very first Vogue cover this year. But it’s not only Kendall who’s got something to shout about this month. Kim and Kanye won the Harper’s Bazaar cover, ‘Scandal’ star Kerry Washington took InStyle and Bella Hadid fronted Glamour’s American Women Now issue - no small feat. Above, Kendall, Kimye, Kerry And Bella’s covers decoded, alongside all of the other September 2016 issues.
Kylie Jenner has followed in her big sister Kim’s footsteps and modelled for Paper magazine. But, rather than stripping off for the camera, the 18-year-old reality star channels a doll in the snapshots for the April issue - looking more plastic than ever.

Junior Moss made her first major debut on the fashion scene back in 2014, in an editorial for Dazed & Confused followed by a fashion campaign for a Calvin Klein Jeans capsule collection. Last year, she walked her first runway for the Sonia Rykiel fall/winter presentation in Paris. Now, she’s landed her first magazine cover with L'Officiel Netherlands. Just two years behind big sis’ Kate, who was discovered at age 14, things are looking pretty good for the aspiring model. The 25-year-old joins the army of celebs happy to whip off their clothes for controversial fashion photographer Terry Richardson. Not one to shy away from showing off her body (who could forget the Donna Karen dress she wore to the Academy Awards after party that was basically a sheer bodysuit with some jersey panels), Rita’s latest photo shoot is still shocking.
Sans heavy make-up and covering up for one, Kylie Jenner looks like any normal teen in these 90s inspired pics. This year has been Kylie Jenner’s year. Dressed in Dior, Jenner looks stripped-back and beautiful in the cover shot.
Miranda Kerr’s Harper’s Bazzar cover is continuing to cause a stir. The model ditched all of her clothes for the racy front cover, wearing only a pair of pink triple T-strap Louboutin pumps. Kerr is no stranger to nude shoots - but Harper’s Bazaar Australia tends to feature models wearing a few more layers on their front cover.
Fans of the fashion magazine are disappointed with the lack of clothes. In one of the most risqué cover shoots to date, Miranda Kerr has ditched all of her clothes to showcase her (insane) body for the January/February issue of Harper’s Bazaar Australia. The model stripped down for the racy front cover, wearing only a pair of pink triple T-strap Louboutin pumps.
The “Fargo” actress isn’t happy that she was pressured into revealing so much skin on the shoot for Maxim magazine. As a rising star, eager to achieve her dream of becoming a global actress, she was pressured into doing at least one photoshoot that she wasn’t entirely comfortable doing – just like many other women have endured. The shoot, for Maxim magazine, shows the blonde star posing in a pair of white pants with a denim jacket left unbuttoned to show a good deal of side boob – more skin that she wanted to show – all in the name of promoting “Bring It On”.
Gisele Bundchen goes the natural route on her latest magazine cover. Who better to illustrate this flawless look than the unofficial Queen of Glow, Gisele Bundchen? The Brazilian supermodel appears on the Autumn / Winter 2015 cover of Pop magazine with the barest hints of makeup.
