The Duchess of Cambridge is having a busy week. Having spent the last few days giving the royal family a sneak peek at her Back to Nature Garden, which the Duchess created with landscape architects Andrée Davies and Adam White for this year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the mum-of-three made a surprise appearance at the Queen's annual garden party at Buckingham Palace. Standing out in pastel pink, Kate donned a new Alexander McQueen double-breasted coat dress with pleated skirt.
The floral designer dress was first worn by the Duchess of Kent to the royal wedding last May.
As the royal mother-of-three makes a case for & Other Stories, we revisit some of her most affordable high street looks to date.
Kate Middleton visited Bletchley Park on Tuesday afternoon to view its new D-Day: Interception, Intelligence, Invasion exhibition, which marks the 75th anniversary of the historic landings. With blue skies over London, the mum-of-three donned a perfect spring look, recycling her vintage-inspired blue shirt dress which featured white polka dots and matching white collar. The 37-year-old first debuted the midi dress by London-based Alessandra Rich last year, when she wore it for a series of family portraits to commemorate Prince Charles' birthday.
Last week William joked: “I'm very pleased and glad to welcome my own brother into the sleep deprivation society that is parenting.”
The Duchess of Cambridge's love of the arts is well documented. In recent years, the Duchess has also become a photography enthusiast, sharing personal photographs of her children on special occasions, from birthdays to first days of school. On 2nd May Kensington Palace shared a set of pictures the Duchess had taken of her daughter Princess Charlotte to celebrate her fourth birthday.
On Wednesday morning Kate Middleton officially opened the new Anna Freud National Centre, the headquarters of a children's mental health charity in North London. The outing came just two days after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary, at which time Kate was also appointed Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order for her services to the sovereign by Her Majesty The Queen. The 37-year-old exuded her usual elegance in a custom made A-line emerald dress featuring a square neckline by New Zealand-born, London-based designer Emilia Wickstead.
One PR expert thinks a joint engagement, soon after the reports of a feud began to emerge, could have quickly helped to dispel the stories.
Speculation of a rift between the Cambridges and Sussexes began at the end of 2018, but one PR expert thinks the rumours could have been dispelled quicker with a joint engagement. Speaking on Yahoo UK's 'The Royal Box,' Nick Ede says: “They could have killed these stories pretty quickly and they could have made it much, much sharper, even just getting them all out together on some kind of event and having them all out together laughing and smiling,” While they’ve attended annual official events such as Trooping the Colour and the Remembrance Day and Commonwealth Day services, the foursome have only had one charity engagement together - The Royal Foundation Forum in February 2018. But royal editor Robert Jobson believes William, Kate, Meghan and Harry probably won’t have gone along with that idea, if suggested to them, “because there was something to the story.”
Princess Diana’s former astrologer says that Kate Middleton is a “steadying force” for Prince William. Debbie Frank worked with the late princess for eight years and had regular contact with her. She speaks to Yahoo UK's royal correspondent Danielle Stacey, about what the royals’ star signs reveal about their relationships. Kate is Capricorn, while William is Cancerian. Speaking on 'The Royal Box,' Ms Frank says: "Kate and William are opposite, they say opposites attract. I think he needs his own rock, his own steadying force and I think that’s really what Kate is for him." Meghan is a Leo, while Harry is a Virgo. Ms Frank says: "Harry is a Virgo and they love to do things for other people. So they actually make quite a good couple in a way, it’s earth and fire. "He’s a bit more like the royal servant, even though he is a royal prince, but he would love to do everything he can for, he’s very devoted."
