Justin Bieber’s mammoth fur jacket has caused some controversy in the animal rights community. PETA blasted the 22-year-old singer for his fashion choice, calling it “a new low” and saying “it's always astounding to see someone with such great fortune and fame show no mercy for animals who simply want to be left alone to live with their families." Justin isn’t the only celebrity donning the real stuff. Plenty of famous faces from Kim Kardashian to Lady Gaga have proudly worn furry coats in full view of the cameras.
Ten years ago the Rodarte sisters, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, flew from their native California to New York with a handful of dresses they’d made themselves (without any professional training), and showed them on the first Friday of Fashion Week, in the most unpopular time slot of 9 p.m. The dresses were delicate and subdued and impressed the small audience that got a glimpse of the pieces that fateful night. Perhaps to celebrate their 10th anniversary, Kate and Laura delivered a beautiful collection that seemed to encapsulate all their ethereal fantasies while still being grounded in reality, i.e., marketable clothes.
After shunning the spotlight since the birth of her son two months ago, Kim Kardashian certainly knew how to make sure all eyes were on her yesterday as she made her grand re-entrance to public life. The previous day, Kim had opted for a different black fur coat as she made her first public appearance since giving birth to son, Saint in December. Alesha Dixon took to social media to blast the reality star, calling her and her sisters ‘ignorant’.
Kendall and Kylie might be full fledged fashion stars now, but they’re still chugging along with their Topshop collaborations. And while Kristmas is more than a month away, the two got into the holiday spirit early with their newest collection. In June, the Jenners reminded you that they lead a Cali-cool lifestyle (say what?) via their first klothing collection, including henleys stamped with “The Best Coast is the West Coast” and Hawaiian-printed rompers that sold out ASAP.
