How did 19-year-old designer Tyler Lambert wind up creating looks for mega-stars like Kylie Jenner? The small town entrepreneur grew up in Wisconsin, giving him very little to draw from in the way of fashion. In a Teen Vogue interview, Lambert notes the closest designer store — an Abercrombie & Fitch — was 40 miles away.Tapping into his interests, he began thrifting, then turning old fabrics into original pieces of clothing. Before long the young designer’s talents were actualized.“My mother was really into sewing, making things like quilts. So she started teaching me to sew on a machine that was given to her by her grandmother,” Lambert recalls.“I was basically sewing curtains together and reworking my grandmother's clothes and cutting things apart and putting them back together,” he said. With basic textile knowledge and creative flair, Lambert was making friends in the right places.“I was really close with my art teacher and had another art mentor, who was a prominent artist in the community. They took me under their wings and taught me about things like fine painting and art history,“That knowledge, combined with my love of fashion, inspired the brand to grow and it started influencing better product.”Click through the gallery for a closer look at Tyler Lambert’s designs.Tell us what you think by tweeting @YahooStyleCA.

Starting from today, Londoners can book a free Christmas consultation appointment at the store’s Oxford Street or Sloane Square branch, and the appointments begin on December 1. Anna Rigby, head of buying for home and gift accessories, told the Evening Standard: “It is a premium service but having somebody take the weight of Christmas decorating off your mind is something special.

One woman, one vision, and that is all it has taken for Isobel Barclay, a textile design graduate from London, to launch her very own brand, on a mission to support girls on their journey to womanhood worldwide. Enough was enough, fusing skill and passion, Isobel wanted to make her mark in the world and launched Taylor + Rani, the beautiful underwear brand that gives back to girls in need. Built around the idea of girls being stronger together, Taylor + Rani is a symbolism of two females coming together, Taylor and Rani, as a representation of sisterhood.
In fact, the textile industry has long been one of China’s largest polluters. Is the smog down to our desire for fast fashion? Looking at the #minimalism and #minimalist hashtags on Instagram is something of a wake-up call. The message, loud and clear, is “de-clutter, IMMEDIATELY.” Divesting ourselves of all superfluous material possessions, though, is a pretty hard feat. I should know, I regularly attempt to do it and my cupboards are still bulging full, the doors straining against the weight of too many things I couldn’t quite part with.
