May is here and as the onslaught of summery ensembles begins, we’re keeping our eye on the celebrity set for all the best inspiration. The stars seem to have got the memo: they’re packing away the huge winter coats and opting for something more befitting of the slightly-less-freezing weather. Take Kaia Gerber , who looked sensational in a cut-out Versace LBD at the OMEGA event in Germany, or Priyanka Chopra who positively nailed her spring-in-the-city look wearing a cropped jumper and high-waisted denim. As always, Bella Hadid was on top of her street style game in Chanel while Chloë Sevigny proved her style prowess is still as strong as ever. Later in the month, the FROW-goers were out in force for Chanel Cruise’s 2018/2019 collection at Le Grand Palais – Lily Rose Depp, Kristen Stewart and Margot Robbie among the guest clad in Chanel. And then there was Cannes Film Festival ( an entire fashion spectacle in itself ). As the month rounded a close, we saw excellent looks from Holly Willoughby at the Chelsea Flower Show, Millie Bobby Brown at a ‘Stranger Things’ panel talk and T Swift at the Billboard awards. From bright colors — many of them pink — to sheer dresses with lots of sequin details, the women of the evening, all took center stage (just as the organizers intended). Women are at the forefront of the 2018 Golden Globe awards , with an all-female television cast leading the TV categories in nominations, and a highly-anticipated red carpet that’s more than just about stars making sartorial statements. But the most important question pertaining to what women like Reese Witherspoon and Eva Longoria wear to the 75th annual award show will be why and not who. In part with the rest of initiatives put forward by the Time’s Up movement, it’s been requested that women walking the red carpet not only wear black , but also take the opportunity to speak out about standing issues of sexual harassment. In line with some of the ideals of Witherspoon’s previous #AskHerMore campaign, the dress code is meant to initiate questions beyond those that are typically superficial. From Debra Messing and Meryl Streep to the ever-stunning Issa Rae , here’s a look at the fashion that’s serving a function for Hollywood’s leading ladies.
