The $1.67 trillion global sportswear and athleisure market tends to focus on style and comfort, not on function. That leaves women without sports bras that support them.
Kanye West debuted Adidas Yeezy Season 5 on Wednesday, and while the sneaker-clothing collaboration was declared low-key and understated, Kim Kardashian’s head-to-toe purple outfit stood out.
Ready for some more fiery Fashion Week rhymes? We hope so — because Hats and Raps is BACK with a rap recap of Alexander Wang’s Spring 2017 extravaganza, attended by the likes of Madonna, Kylie Jenner, Nicki Minaj, and more. Enjoy.
The celebrity gossip-hungry world was waiting with bated breath to see which members of Alexander Wang’s buzzy #WangSquad would show up to his spring 2017 show (the answer: nearly all of them) — but the night’s real surprise was on the runway, not the sidelines. As squaders Kylie Jenner, her rapper, car-purchasing boyfriend Tyga, and singer-actress Tinashe looked on from the front row, Wang presented his loungewear-inspired new season looks, followed immediately by a finale featuring his long-rumored collaboration with German sportswear brand Adidas. The all-black collection included tees, crop tops, pants, jackets, a patent trench, and more for both men and women — all with Adidas’s recognizable trefoil logo turned upside-down. This is Wang’s first high-profile collab since his sporty, muted grayscale collection for H&M launched in November 2014 — and it’ll no doubt be a sellout.
Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld once said: “Sweatpants are a sign of defeat.” How ironic that years later Lagerfeld would go on to design a whole runway show around them, sending supermodel Cara Delevingne down the catwalk in pink workout-wear.
High fashion meets activewear. It’s becoming more visible on the runways and in the streets as it’s effortless and comfy but still cute. From pairing a jersey with high heels to matching a t-shirt dress with Nikes, styling activewear is limitless. We created some (reasonably priced) outfits for inspiration:
Kanye West & Kim Kardashian doing their version of smiling. Photo: Getty Images Between running multiple business ventures, filming her reality show, sitting in hair and makeup for hours a day, taking too many selfies, and raising two young kids, Kim Kardashian has proven herself quite the multitasker. And now she can add two more concurrent activities to that list: Breastfeeding and charity work! Late Wednesday night, Kardashian took to Twitter to express her desire to donate to a young girl she’d seen on television while feeding her newborn son, Saint.
Zendaya Coleman, the outspoken Disney star who slays with her fashion-forward sense of style, ever-changing wigs, and amazing words, is at Paris Fashion Week and her presence isn’t just a breath of fresh air, it’s the missing piece, the thing you didn’t even know you needed until it made its spectacular grand entrance. The Kardashian-Jenners are overexposed (the Hadid sisters as well), Rihanna is cool but also cool, and Elizabeth Olsen is beautiful and has sisters who make amazing clothes but — let’s be honest — kind of boring. Then comes Zendaya, walking through Charles de Gaulle in athleisure, appearing like a beacon of hope. She dresses in outfits many wouldn’t dare try, cozies up to the kooky Vivienne Westwood and even wears her equally out-there designs, changes her hair from cornrows to a pixie to a topknot based on her mood, and doesn’t hold back from saying what’s on her mind. When she opens her mouth and words come out, they’re poetic and prophetic, whether she’s responding to a paparazzi asking if she has any advice to young girls “who think they’re ugly and stuff,” or tweeting explainers regarding the technicalities behind wigs. All hail Zendaya. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest for nonstop inspiration delivered fresh to your feed, every day.
